Irkutsk Oil Company is one of the world leaders in the production of highly pure helium (6.0). This type of gas has a great importance on a global scale. Highly pure helium is used for the production of microelectronics, for refueling spacecraft, and is necessary for analyzing transformer oil in order to prevent emergency shutdowns and explosions of power transformers.
In the first half of 2022, against the backdrop of sanctions, the Irkutsk Oil Company lost a key contract for the supply of imported equipment for analyzing impurities in highly pure helium (6.0), on which the activity of the entire enterprise depended. Since without a thorough check of helium the company cannot release it to consumers. There are risks of business interruption due to work on old imported equipment, which has become impossible to maintain and repair due to the restrictions introduced.
Irkutsk Oil Company ask RPC "Meta-Chrom" Co Ltd., which had been developing in this area for several years, with a request to develop and supply equipment similar to the imported one. Having made enormous efforts and applying all its knowledge and experience, in the shortest possible time the Meta-Chrom company was able to solve the problem: the organization’s specialists quickly and professionally were able to modify and offer excellent analogue at a reasonable price the existing model of the gas chromatograph “Crystallux 4000M” with the CCU-6 cryoconcentration unit. Delivery and commissioning were carried out in December 2022, allowing Irkutsk Oil Company to continue its activities as usual without interruption. Currently, there are plans to supply similar equipment to a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) unit under construction near the city of Pskov.
